Autumnal Attitude.....

Looking at the weather right now you could definitely say without a shadow of a doubt that summer really has gone. It's a shame because I for one love summer and the beautiful hot sunshine that comes with it (or should come with it!!), but sadly there is nothing any of us can do about it so instead I thinks it's best to just embrace the impending coldness with a multitude of funky autumn colours and soft, snuggly wintery layers.
So it's time to say a long farewell to all those glorious pastel shades, exotic slip on sandals (they really aren't UK winter practical!) and cute little playsuits, and welcome instead those chunky knits, thick cotton fleece threads and solid biker boots and lace up platforms. Which looking at it on a positive vibe ultimately means a whole new wardrobe update and season make-over.
So on this occasion I decided to turn to H&M for my new autumnal threads and winter wardrobe. I've always loved H&M since I was a adolescent as they do great fashionable clothing for uber great affordable prices, my only concern is I often find their sizing comes up a little small on me, especially their jeans / trousers and skirt items.....or maybe it's just my sizing. We will have to see what you all think with these next outfit ideas.
H&M Delivery arrival day = VERY EXCITED LOU!! (I mean who doesn't like a delivery day?!)

So first up I decided on a mustard mini skirt in corduroy teamed up with an over sized white lace jumper. That was simple I thought, but nope my dilemma was then a mixture of further possibilities and ideas; firstly tights, if wearing with tights should they be nude or black, or maybe even patterned, then shoes, and I'm talking in both colour and style; black or beige, ankle boots, knee-high boots or even over the knee boots, but then maybe trainers or hi-tops would work?! The choices could be ALMOST endless!!!!! That is one of the reasons why I love fashion, there are so many ways to change an outfit or a look, just with the slightest adaption it can change the whole appearance dramatically...
So in order to not blow my mind too much I opted for only a few variations:
1. White jumper, mustard mini skirt + No tights & over-the-knee high beige boots
2. White jumper, mustard mini skirt + No tights & black knee high boots
3. White jumper, mustard mini skirt + Black tights & black knee high boots
I then decided to try the same mini skirt on with a leopard print high neck body, I must admit this was one of my fave looks of this little entourage. It was comfortable and I thought both items fitted really well together, the fabric was also amazingly soft on the body which surprised me. Also little things like the sleeves not being to short, neck not too thick and the cut of the legs not being too high up the body all made this outfit a great combo to wear together, it also felt a little more dressy than my previous choice. I could definitely wear this out to an evening in the pub or an evening meal.
My next look had a more relaxed vibe, a nice winter warming jumper dress with a lovely fleece lining. The thought of actually being warm wearing a dress over the winter months made me so incredibly happy, so I knew I was onto a winner before I had even tried it on. Buying this in such a neutral and plain colour also meant that I had the added desire to team it with a variety of different items, so I decided to try it with a few variations in both leg and footwear. Here were my ideas:
1. Cream Jumper dress + Black tights & black knee high boots
2. Cream Jumper dress + No tights & over-the-knee high beige boots
3. Cream Jumper dress + Leopard print leggings & brown ankle boots
4. Cream Jumper dress + Leopard print leggings & black knee high boots
The leggings were fantastic, but not only because they are of course in my absolute favorite print, but because they are in the fact made from a thick and very elasticated fabric mix. This meant two things for me, A. not having to worry about having that see-through problem, and B. not having to worry about them falling out of shape after half an hr of wearing them. To me this is exactly what great leggings are made from and should be like.

I think my favorite choices were probably the Jumper dress with the over-the-knee high boots, which I was quite surprised about, and the leopard print leggings, which I was not so surprised about!! To be honest all the items I purchased on this occasion I loved because they were all versatile enough to be teamed up with so many different items, this then meant that I could wear them more often, but each time creating a completely different look and feel. This is when you know you've brought a keeper.
To sum up my items, the White lace Jumper, Cream Jumper dress and mustard mini skirt were all from H&M. The leopard print body and over-the knee high boots were from ASOS. The Brown fleecy boots were from Roxy and the black knee high boots are from Dolcis.
I hope you all manage to find some lovely and snuggly winter warmers for this Christmas season too. If you fancy sharing them, please do. We can all do with a little inspiration any month or day of the year.
