Mask Off!!!

So everyone loves a good old party, right?!?!?!? I surely must be right…. right?!?!?! And what’s more NOT to love about a party where you can dress up to the nines (think big dramatic ball gowns, a sea of embezzled sequins and flawlessly fantastic fishtails everywhere and you may have it!!) and then add that little dash of intrigue to the mix by hiding everyone's identity with an elegant face mask: aka The Masquerade Ball. One of my closest friends decided to do just that when she recently celebrated her 30th BD and I have to admit I thought it was a pretty wicked idea.
So my immediate thought was firstly I need to buy me a spectacular dress for this occasion, and secondly was that this idea was rather ‘Fifty Shades’ esquire. Which is definitely not a bad thing as it meant my hubby had to don a tuxedo...& we all love a little Bond in our lives don't we.
So I opted for a red floor length bodycon No, with a bardot neckline and thigh high split. The fabric again was reasonably thick and elasticated giving it a much better fit across the body. The light frills down the split and around the shoulders also added another dimension, giving the dress a playful feel. I really liked the fabric too as it wasn't too tight so didn't restrict me in anyway, in turn I felt comfortable & relaxed whilst still looking glam and a little bit sexy.

Obviously I couldn't help but team this one up with some gold accessories & wedges. I did consider going for a red / black themed look as I thought that this might of had a more classic and a kind of '50 shades' impact, but as the sunshine came out I decided gold had more of a shimmering, summery vibe to it. I'm glad I chose this option, I think the outfit colour combo along with my blonde hair defiantly felt more classy and had a softer appearance, I think black might of created a more harsh, dramatic look. Maybe one for a winter ball.....

Then last but definitely not least the finishing touch was a splash of bright red lippy… I couldn't resist bringing this splash of colour into my look and I think it was a pretty good match to. Again it was my trusty Maybelline favorite. #classiccolourcombo

Oliver got right into the spirit of things with his ‘007’ tuxedo & I have to say I loved it on him. I think the navy blue fabric with black lapels, worked great together and really suited his colouring far better than just black. Oh my did he look gorgeous… It makes you realize how great a suit really does look on a man. I kind of think we should bring back the 30’s / Peaky Blinders era of fashion, because those men (& women) knew how to dress and especially rock a 3piece...and a flat cap too. I'm almost inspired to go to a Peaky Blinders party, there MUST be one out there?!?!?!!?!!!!!

The Birthday Girl was by far the MOST glamorous lady at the party and was definitely the star (and belle!) of the show. She totally wowed the room in her elegantly, sparkly gown and looked utterly fabulous as she partied the night away with her family and close friends. She couldn't of looked any more happy and high on life. The dress fitted her to perfection and showed off her beautiful curves in all the right places, the fishtail hemline also added even more sexiness to the look and really did emphasize her gorgeous figure, to me she looked absolutely stunning and I'm pretty sure her husband (who also rocked the dinner suit!) would agree.

To be honest neither of the girls disappointed me, in fact they were all dressed to perfection in their beautiful gowns and tousled curls. They all looked fabulous, and it was a great way for the girls to get their glad rags on and get super dressed up. I find these days going out in an evening isn't quite so dressy anymore so this party was a great excuse to go a little bit over the top an really go all out fancy pants. It was almost like being at a Gala party, all we needed was a red carpet...….or red soled shoes maybe!!!

It was such a great way to spend an evening with best friends, and let's just say we chatted, danced, chatted some more, put the world to rights, drank way too much and ended with dancing some more to some cheesy 80's pop songs! #standardbesties

Who cares if you act silly or dance like an idiot, it's about enjoying the moment with loved ones, friends and family and living life to the maximum. Because let's face it you never know what's around that corner, so to me treasuring these moments and embracing them 100% is what counts.

Happy PartyN People… Keep dancing, the night is still young. L
