Moroccan Magic.....

Seeing (& definitely feeling!) the start of the Autumn season rolling in I decide my next post should be about our recent family summer adventure, or realistically maybe it's my way of clinging onto the distant memories of hot sunshine and pool side dreams. Either way you can't beat a relaxing and ever so slightly lazy vacation can you...….

So as a family we decided to treat ourselves this year by booking a holiday of a lifetime to the beautiful coastline city of Agadir in Morocco. Although we have been on many holidays together as a threesome (mainly surfing in Cornwall, which we do absolutely love - post to follow shortly!) we had never actually been abroad and flown as a threesome. So this year was made extra special for us, and possibly even more special for Charlie as we agreed to take a friend of his too.

Now you might think us as utterly crazy and slightly insane to even contemplate let alone suggest taking two 13 year old boys abroad with us and especially to have that added pressure of being responsible for another couples child, let alone then taking them to a different country, but in our heads we thought it would actually make it easier for us, and also realistically much more enjoyable for Charlie. After all holidays are to be enjoyed by everyone and not everyone enjoys the same thing. I mean my idea of a perfect holiday is lying next to my already super tanned hubby, on either a 'photoshopped' type sandy beach (pure white sand and see-through bright turquoise water!) or beside an exotically glam pool, both in tropical, glorious sunshine (about 35°C+ for me!) with a fruity cocktail in one hand and a romantic novel in the other, spot on heaven in my head!! However to a couple of 13 year old boys this is probably their idea of hell and torture. Their idea of fun, would be things like cliff jumping, surfing, bungee jumping, jet skiing and anything else slightly dangerous and life risking!!! Total opposites in reality.....

So when I booked our holiday I had to consider pleasing everyone, which is why I went for this crowd pleaser, Hotel Labranda:

It literally had everything we needed for the perfect holiday, beach front location, large pool, extensive spa and mainly for the boys an on site waterpark. We were also lucky enough to have a surf school literally 200metres down the beach, from the hotel, which accommodated all levels of surf ability along with other activities including paddle boarding and jet skiing. What more could two 13 year old boys ask for?!?!?!?!!!

So being a typical female I took numerous bikinis with me, practically a different one for every day, I mean you can never have too many bikinis can you?!?!?!!!! There was a various selection of ASOS (their fuller bust range specifically!), Boux Avenue and Sainsbury's - but I will do another separate post about these little beauties at a later date......

For the daytime I kept it quite casual, but for the evenings I opted for a variety of different looks, from a classically cut playsuit, to high waisted harem pants and a simple body to a colourful sleek maxi dress, all in an abundance of bright colours and fabrics. I think one of my favourite outfits was my vividly orange maxi dress, a colour almost competing to standards of Hi-Viz regulations. I love it not only because of the great colour but also the combination of a fancy yet geometric neckline and straight sleek body outline. The fabric being quite lightweight and elasticated meant it was fitted enough at the top but floaty enough at the bottom to hang loosely over the body.

When I'm abroad I don't tend to apply much (if any!) make-up as I hate the idea along with the feel of it running down my face, so in the fiery Moroccan heat I chose to go for a minimalistic vibe with just a little flicker of mascara. I also decided to go subtle with my hair choosing to tie it up and off my shoulders to gain the most out of the cool evening breeze. This also meant I could then focus my attention on my footwear. For which I chose a glorious pair of leopard print sandals, which I have to say I managed to wear every night. I mean if you try hard enough you can always sneak in a little leopard print to any outfit, right?!?!?!?!?!

Then add the finishing touches in the form of a super tanned and handsome husband and you have the perfect dinner date ready couple entourage...

Which also brings me nicely onto my next outfit which was actually chosen for me by my hubby, whom went out one morning to purchase an inflatable ring for the boys and came back with a special gift for me. A Moroccan styled maxi dress, which he chose himself from a local shop in the nearby town and I have to say that he did great with this choice. It was a simple low cut V-neck styled dress, with a wide ruched, elasticated waist band and an almost tier like skirt section. It was a beautiful array of colours from turquoise through to yellow and orange and had a tropical Moroccan feel to it.

Being made in the country we were in also meant it was lightweight enough and perfectly made for the hot weather, it was such a great little purchase (especially from my husband!) and a way to remember the wonderful holiday we had. Plus it also meant I knew I could wear this dress in the UK and know 99% that no one else would be wearing the same dress as me.

The night I chose to wear this lovely dress was a night my hubby decided to also get his inner colour shocker on too. He teamed up a fantastic yellow t-shirt with a pair of petrol blue shorts and bold burgundy adidas trainers. To be honest I thought he looked fantastic in this get up and entirely summer vacation ready.

I also thought our separate colour schemes went pretty well together and ultimately complimented each other. The yellow / blue and burgundy shades he chose practically matched the different shades within my dress, it's almost as if he had had this idea in his mind when he brought it that morning. #menthatthinkahead

The boys weren't quite as eager to express their inner yellow or any other vivacious colour combo I suggested. I suppose being 13 and just entering the vast and life altering territory of teenager'itus (aka the 'Kevin & Perry' period!) they were and are much more interested in the label and branding of their clothing rather than the colour scheme. Although they did partake in the posing element of the scenario, but not quite how I anticipated it:

Have you ever found any fantastic little bargains, outfits or holiday essentials whilst actually away on your holidays?! Does you better half shine through on the colour chart compared to the rest of the family or do your teenage kids look cooler than you?!!? If so feel free to share them with me here too....

Happy holidaying and holiday shopping....... L
